These are the five most powerful Demon Slayer characters who aren't evil.
Infinity Castle shows how human Demon Slayers can overcome obstacles as they compete against Zenitsu, Muichiro, Tanjiro, Gyomei and Yoriichi.
Kimetsu no Yaiba's film Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle directly pits human pirates against the natural advantages of demons. Zenitsu Agatsuma conquers Kaigaku, a new Upper Rank Six with Thunder Breathing Seventh Form. Muichiro Tokito's Hashira level comes just two months after training began and Tanjiro Kamado fights the Upper Three Akaza alongside Giyu Tomioka.
The demons have almost all the advantage.
Demons have almost all the natural edge in conflict. They can recover from wounds that would kill a person instantly, and they develop supernatural blood spells which become stronger over centuries. Even experienced Hashira may struggle to permanently eliminate one of them.
Demon slayers do not have these luxuries; they fight with breathing techniques, Nichirin swords and painfully lethal bodies. This imbalance gives the strongest human characters a unique weight: each victory against an advanced demon represents a human achievement propelled into the supernatural.
Zenitsu Agatsuma eventually became the victim that Jigoro Kuwajima had hoped for.
Zenitsu Agatsuma's early battles are dominated by fear. When faced with demons, he is terrified and performs at his best only after becoming unconscious. His transformation in the film Infinity Castle has been made especially interesting, as he enters the battle as a swordsman markedly different.
The battle becomes deeply personal when Zenitsu confronts Kaigaku, the new Upper Rank Six. Kaigoku trained under the same master Jigoro Kuwajima but eventually became a demon. He also has a distinct advantage in all-around proficiency.
Zenitsu responds by taking the technology he has mastered beyond anyone's expectations. The Thunder Breathing Seventh Form becomes the clearest evidence of his development. He is no longer a monotone student; he has developed a technique powerful enough to defeat Kaigaku, and this victory establishes him as one of Zenitsu's most powerful demon slayers.
Muichiro Tokito proved that his two-month rise to Hashira was no accident.
Muichiro Tokito is considered one of Hashira's most promising young talents, but that doesn't stop him from becoming one. He is a technician who has earned the title of "Hashira" in just two months after beginning his training. The growth rate for one of the Demon Slayer Corps' greatest swordsmen is insane.
Archery Village Arc shows why he achieved that status. Muichiro first attacks the Upper Five Gyokko, especially after being trapped inside a demon's Water Prison Pot. The battle changes when his memory returns and his Demon Slayer Mark appears.
Upper Rank makes it very difficult to keep up with his speed. Mist Breathing can obscure the player's movement before closing the distance for a final shot. Achieving Upper Ranks is an extraordinary feat in itself, as doing so puts Muichiro into extremely rare territory.
Tanjiro Kamado is approaching the level of Hashira greatness.
Tanjiro Kamado's development is a defining part of Demon Slayer. He starts out as an inexperienced swordsman, determined to fight regular demons, but helps him defeat the Upper Four Hantengu through Swordsmith Village Arc. In Infinity Castle, he fights with Giyu Tomioka against Upper Three Akaza.
Tanjiro's greatest strength has always been consistency. He combines water breathing and Hinokami Kagura, repeatedly finding ways to read opponents who initially seem more distant than him. The battle with Akaza further enhances these abilities.
Tanjiro is able to fight enemies from the highest levels of demons and explore opportunities that even experienced swordsmen struggle with. This achievement gives him an edge over most members of his squad.
Himejima Gyomei is one of the most powerful role models in modern times.
Gomi Himejima is considered by members of the demon-slaying guild to be its strongest warrior. His appearance makes this reputation instantly believable. Even before breathing techniques were introduced into conversation, Gomi possessed extraordinary physical strength.
For Gyumei, these conditions only serve to preserve Stone Hashira's much-needed strength. His weaponry is also unique: instead of the traditional Nichirin sword, Gyomei fights with spikes attached by an ax and a rope.
His power, hearing and spatial perception allow him to control both sides with frightening precision. Being blind makes his abilities all the more remarkable. He has developed his other senses to such an extent that sight is no longer necessary for top-level combat.
Yoriichi Tsugikuni is still at the top.
Yoriichi Tsugikuni existed centuries before Tanjiro, and the effects of his existence are still everywhere.
Yoriichi wields influence over the entire demon exorcism corps and represents something that no modern-day Hashira can achieve.
Modern breathing techniques are derived from techniques developed in his day. The anime depicts Yoriichi partly on purpose, and has actually strengthened its existence. Each new piece of information reinforces the same idea: that the best Demon Slayers currently exist are trying to reach a level achieved by one person centuries ago.
The Corps' strategy of attacking Muzan was altered.
The true value of these characters testifies to the human side of battle. Zenji Su's success demonstrates that only a deeply mastered technique can overcome the vast diversity of a demon; Muichiro's rise shows that the squad is capable of producing miracles, defeating advanced demons even at a young age; and Tanjiro the Great's growth shows how his agility and combat knowledge can propel an ordinary swordsman to Hashira-level prowess.
Gyomei and Yoriichi give the story an outer edge. Gyo-mei is the modern benchmark for human strength, while yoriichi is a historical protagonist still trying to regain the Corps. As the story moves deeper into Infinity Castle, the question isn't just whether the Demon Slayers will win their battles; can they bridge the gap between the Human Frontier and the supernatural organs needed to end the invasion of Muzan?
