Five anime masterpieces that are better than Death Note

Character storylines that span five anime series with more profound moral adventures than Death Note: Attack on Titan, Monster, Banana Fish, Mob Psycho 100, or Inuyashiki.

Death Note is one of the most prominent psychological anime to date, with Light Yagami and L's heartbeat cat-and-mouse feud being the central attraction of the classic series. However, like any other anime, the death note is incomplete; some anime are inevitably surpassed either by character misadventures or by a more seductive plot twist. Attack on Titan, Monster, Banana Fish, Mob Psycho 100 and Inuyashiki, the fifth animated film in the franchise, have themes for keeping Death Note on their phones.

Attack on Titan offers a large world structure and an impressive villain.

The heroes of both Death Note and Attack on Titan start out as good guys before becoming the villains of their respective anime. Eren goes from a boy longing for freedom outside his suffocating wall to one who is ready to kill off most of the human race. But unlike Light's power trip, Eren must overcome endless moral puzzles, tragic events, and an utter inability to turn himself into evil in any form.

Evil creates a high-stakes adventure without any supernatural elements.

Unlike Death Note, Monster doesn't need supernatural gadgets to create a mind-bending psychological thriller. It is set in post-Cold War Europe and follows Dr. Tenma as he pursues Johan Liebert, the man who saved him from his youth. In one episode, Johan discovers that he has grown up to be a brutal serial killer and is being forced into criminal discipline.

It is also known as the "banana fish".

While Light yagami dreams about a utopian world, Ash is free and better able to understand the truth of this world. Those who dislike Light's dark character may prefer Ash acting as one of his squad leaders rather than being used as a decoy whenever danger strikes.

100 of the crowd psychopaths valued self-acceptance over comic powers.

The Death Note describes a protagonist who gains supernatural powers and begins killing people instantly. Mob Psycho 100 ties this story to an already defeated teenager who only wants to be himself. Light violently tries to trample all opponents, while Shigeo Kageyama (also known as the Mob) attempts to hold his own so that he does not harm them.

Inuyasha delves deeper into how power can pollute.

The Death Note creates a generic narrative that power corrupts through a talented teenage protagonist who turns into an assassin. It reveals that Inuyashiki has both a good and bad side. Inuyasaki, a former mercenary with terminal cancer, and Hiro, a free-spirited teenager, use their new bodies in radically different ways after being left behind by the aliens with advanced cyborg bodies.

This list is important to fans of the Death Note, because it's one of the most popular novels in history.

Attack on Titan expands the villain question into geopolitics and worldbuilding. The monster removes supernatural gear, making real-world choices frightening; Banana Fish replaces Ash's dream of light fiction for street-level survival; Mob Psycho 100 makes self-acceptance more important than comic power. Inuyashiki reveals how Power went down in Episode 11, showing both its pros and cons.
