Mooncat, a premium nail polish brand, has officially announced a partnership with the Death Note franchise. It is a limited-edition collector's set of new anime-inspired nails. The Death Note x Mooncat cosmetics collection is inspired by the anime television series and features nine colors to commemorate its 20th anniversary.
The spectra are named after characters, places and other elements: Misa Misa, Rem.s Requiem, Mourning Rain, Shinigami Realm, God of the New World, Sunset Over Tokyo, Gods of Death Love Apples, Sugarfuel Brain Calories and Ryuk Was Bored. Mooncat is a vegan nail polish brand that uses its publication not only as a collector's package but also specially designed bottles for decoration, matt-black caps and separate sticker.
Why was this collaboration built around dramas?
Mooncat presents the collaboration as a dream for co-founder Michelle Lin. Lin has long been obsessed with Death Note, and the company says it used the series' graveyard-like color palette and intense visual control as inspiration for Mooncat's signature high-impact effects.
