This review describes part 3 of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus.

The third part of the Beerus remake has more intense action and tone, but it weakens Vegeta and reduces its growth while losing the original's humor.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Part III becomes the first big mistake of the remake

"Dragon Ball Super: Beerus" Part III, titled "The God of Destruction Heads to Earth", became the first obvious blunder in the remake. After two anticipated episodes, the third part was by far the weakest, but it improved many action scenes and gave a stronger tone than the ၂၀၁၅ original story. The plot has always been a struggle because its remastered source material should be the least successful part of The God of destruction Saga.

Acceleration cuts construction costs dramatically.

Part III begins with Goku waking up after being tortured on the Emperor's planet. Cyrus goes to Earth in search of a superhuman god and confronts Vegeta, allowing Gog to watch as the fate of the world rests in the hands of his greatest rival. The basic premise of the chapter is simple: After confronting Goku, Beorus heads to Earth to find other Sirens.

Unlike the ၂၀၁၅ anime, where Beerus' arrival was followed by a lot of time spent with scenes related to Bulma's birthday party, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Episode 3 skips most of this sequence and instead goes straight for Beerus and Whis' Vegeta on Bulmas yacht. Removing unnecessary fluff has worked well so far for the remake.

There are still several key moments in the series: Beerus pushes Bulma, Vegeta becomes a Super Saiyan, Galick goes berserk and shoots off one of his guns. These moments matter because Vegeta's transformation and confrontation with Beerus is one of her greatest moments in this story.

A deeper flashback and a more intense action tone

Vegeta's flashback to his first encounter with Beerus on the planet Vegeta is much worse than the ၂၀၁၅ version. It fits into the remake's totally dark tone. In the original flashback, Beerus was partially identified by small nonsense words including "the softest pillow in the galaxy".

The battle between Vegeta and Beerus is more panoramic and engaging than the original story, but the changes are not as noticeable as in Super Saiyan 3 Goku's attack on Beerus. The real advantage of this version is the speed with which it moves from Majin Buu's initial campaign against Beerus to Vegeta's "My Bulma" moment.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Episode 3 feels like a fast-paced run through the storylines. The appearance of Pilaf Gang is an excellent image; if it had been removed altogether, there wouldn't have been much change.

The humor comes with the space.

One of the original story's redeeming qualities is its charismatic campiness. Part III loses most of its atmosphere; it retains some silliness, but not enough serenity to work out the bizarre scenes from the original. The remake shows what could have been achieved if it had trusted more in its own material: Majin Buu's eager refusal to share his pudding with Beerus was easier and funnier than the original version.

That success makes it more difficult to ignore the moments that have been avoided. It would be nice to see Vegeta recreate and develop other leftover comic scenes, such as cooking an octopus for Beerus. The series proves that humor lands when it has a chance.

What is the purpose of life on earth?

The central problem is that for this part of the arc, the original material was too weak to retain most of it without major alterations. To make the remaining storylines worthwhile, the episode would require a lot of adaptation; the trauma of having gone through so much felt like something left over could be discarded, and it's amazing until Toei manages to hold onto one thing: A more ambitious remake will completely rewrite the story.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Part 3 is a very good series. The advancements are more rare than the previous installments, and the super-fast pace hurts history. The biggest problem is that this remake isn't remaking enough.

The series and what it means for viewers

For viewers, Part 3 is a warning about the nature of re-creation. The series was at its most intense when it made clear choices with better animation, darker tone and tighter action. It tended to preserve the humor of the original story, reconstructing its meaning or being less forceful when it abruptly slipped through the narrative without deciding on cutting out entirely.

There's no end to the series for Dragon Ball Super: Beerus - it's a crash, not a stumble. But our current approach to production shows that we can keep the original trapped between two extremes.

Where can I watch part three?

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus episodes 1 to 3 are streaming on Crunchyroll and Hulu. The new episode is also scheduled for release on Saturday, October 31, at Netflix .
