Japan has ranked the 10 most powerful Hunter x Hunter characters of all time.

Hunter x Hunter fans named Meruem as the most powerful character in Animate Times Top 10 poll.

Animate Times, the official entertainment news website of Animate, recently introduced an audience survey that rated 10 characters from Hunter x Hunter, one of Japan's largest anime specialty retailers.

In the United States, for example, about half of all adults are overweight.

Animate Times did not ask participants in the list to name their favorite character. Voters chose five of their strongest Hunter x Hunter characters and assigned five points for each first-place selection, four points for second place and one point for fourth. After deciding on a total of 25 top picks, Animate Time published the first 10 places.

Meruem's leadership reflects her role as the most powerful daughter of the Chimera Ant Queen and the main antagonist of the chimera ant arc. Born a ferocious, violent creature, she has a deeper appreciation for humanity and personal relationships primarily due to her relationship with Komugi. Her story ends when she is fatally poisoned by Poor Man's Rose despite being unable to stand up effectively in direct combat.

Netero and Hisoka consolidate the power of veterans.

Second place belongs to Isaac Netero, 12th president of the Hunter Association, head of the exam commission for the 287th Hunter Examination and father of Beyond Netero. He was considered by many as one of the most powerful Nen users in the world despite being elderly at the time of Hunter x Hunter's debut.

Hisoka Morow, a former member of the Phantom Troupe, took third place. He has served as the main antagonist in several series but is also able to continue training for Gon and Killua's age and fight back later on. During the Yorknew City and Greed Island arcs, he appears as a supporting character and shows greater power than at the beginning of the series.

In fourth place was Gon's father, Ging Freecss, who is widely considered to be one of the most powerful Nen users of all time. His ratings were remarkably handful compared with other notable Hunter x Hunter actors, but his reputation came first and foremost.

The top five is completed by Gon Freecss, but not the regular version of the protagonist. Fifth place belongs to Adult Gon during his final battle with Neferpitou in the Chimera Ant arc. In a bursting fury, Gon ages into his own form using his powers to defeat Neferpitu.

Because the battle mode is counted separately in the poll, regular Gon only has eight places in the top 10, with a score of 104. The ranking reflects how Gon's transformation was treated as a distinct peak of power rather than being folded into a main character entry.

Kilua Zodi is in seventh place with 152 points, ahead of Gong, Kurapika and Siva Zoldai. Krolo Lusifel joins the elder Gong in fourth place with 316 points; Kuropika sits ninth with 103 points, while Sivarzad closes out the top 100 with 70 points.

This list gives readers a fan-reviewed picture of how the series' strongest characters are remembered. The top tier is dominated by antagonists and powerhouses, led by Meruem, Isaac Netero, Hisoka, and Ging Freecss among its main cast members.
