With 392 episodes and 170 scenes, Black Clover mixes dark fantasy with shonen magic inspired by Bleach, Berserk and other classic anime influences.

The 392 episodes and 170 anime episodes of Black Clover follow five Anime influences.

The anime and manga industries have evolved in miraculous ways over the past decade, helping to launch a new generation of Seismic Shonen storytelling such as Yuki Tabata's Black Clover. It chronicles Asta's brave and supernatural adventures when he conquers enemies using his rare Anti-Magic powers and becomes the Wizard King.

Bleach's Supernatural Shonen Theatrical became the architectural backbone of Black Clover.

The second season of Black Clover aired at a time when Bleach was going off on its own terms with an explosion. Tite Kubo's shonen series is one of Yuki Tabata's biggest influences, and his mark can be felt on everything from the anime's character energy system to the power system itself as well as the visual style of the series.

Black Clover's Magic Knight Squads and their captains seem to be drawing directly from Bleach's Gotei 13. Tabata openly talks about how Rukia and Byakuya Kuchiki have influenced Noelle and Nozel Silva. The connection becomes very apparent after being discovered.

The style and action of Asta's black Anti-Magic energy also brings to mind Ichigo's dark Bankai energy. There are even times when Asta and Ichigo can compare hopeless locations on their journeys, such as the rocks from which Asta came in either the Sun Kingdom arc or Bleach's Fullbringer arc. Images of the resource credited to Studio Pierrot include Yhwach appearing to destroy Ichigo Bankai in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War; Senbōzakura Kageyoshi using his own Bankai for transferring swords; Ichigo Kurosaki using Getsuga Tensho fighting against ichigo Banakai and Hollows at Bankai Hollow.

Black Clover attempts to succeed as the dark fantasy Shonen equivalent of Berserk

Kentaro Miura's Berserk is widely considered to be an essential dark fantasy that represents the relentless exploration of this volatile genre. While Miura 's detailed artwork was a major factor in Berserk' s success, it also demonstrates his unique storytelling not being afraid to push the protagonist out of the mill as it feels like endless karma consequences.

The terrifying, lonely path of vengeance that he finds himself on after Guts' betrayal is powerful yet profound. Thus this is a seinen series and especially mature: animated by Berserk's dark fantasy world construction, characters in conflict with the historical realm, and Tabata's goal with Black Clover to create a shonen genre equivalent to Miura's work.

So, Asta's journey is a dark one of pushing boundaries and willingness to take risks while still embracing the safety of the proven shonen formula. The existential ending for this series featuring The Tree Of Qliphoth feels deliberately similar to the tragic aspect tears in Berserk's Millennium Empire sequel Falcon.

There are also several minor instances in which Berserk's imagery and televised language fit into Tabata's series. For example, Asta's giant Anti-Magic swords mirror Guts' Dragonslayer blade, and even the miraculous black appearance of his antibody shape transforms him into a Black Swordsman of his own. The source created an image of Guts with its Dragonlayer knife that was placed on the moonlight in Leidenfilms Berserk (2016).

One of Yu Yu Hakusho's darkest heroes, he inspired the three fearsome Elves of Black Clover.

Yoshihiro Togashi's Yu Yu Hakusho၁၉၉၀ set new standards for urban fantasy and surrealist adventure, setting a new frontier from the s. Togashi would continue to build on these ideas in his next series, Hunter x Hunter, but there are many other important shonen titles including Black Clover.

Yu Yu Hakusho's approach to speed, character development, combat and power systems echoes many of the ideas in Black Clover. The Royal Knights selection examination held later is a way to break up the noisy suspicious tournament arc drawn from Yu Yu hakushos Dark Tournament.

In addition to these widespread influences, Black Clover also explicitly refers to Yu Yu Hakusho and his ill-fated Third Eye Group. This is a trio of demons reincarnated within Eyes of the Midnight Sun who magically activate their third eye. Their designs and the mechanisms behind their diffusion power, as well as their possible consequences are in Hiei's honor.

The Studio Pierrot visual of the source shows Hiei releasing his dragon flame in Yu Yu Hakusho's episode "Wielder of the Dragon". As he wipes blood from his mouth, Hiei opens a third eye, invoking and energizing dark dragon fire against Bui.

Dragon Ball Z helped establish Tabata's interest in action and power-up.

It is interesting to note that elements of popular culture have printed individual creators working intrinsically in their creations, even if they are not explicitly intended to reference those inspirations. For example, Tabata discusses how Dragon Ball Z was the first anime she watched as a child and the series which initially inspired her to pursue a career as a manga artist.

The action and fast-paced action that defined Dragon Ball find their way into Tabata's high-performance paneling, as well as the creative martial arts scenarios that complement many of the series' battles. In addition, Black Clover is also a shonen series rich in power-ups and modifications connected by a tiered power system. Looking at Asta's more intense transformation, it's hard to look without thinking about Super Saiyan forms from Dragon Ball and Ultra Instinct.

Yuno and his chemistry borrows heavily from the competitive nature of Goku and Vegeta, both friends and rivals. Toei Animation is credited with portraying Super Saiyan Goku in Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge.

The article also features a MyAnimeList comparison indicator, which asks readers to select an anime series with the highest myanimelist score and register for a spot on the top list. The result shown is High Score: 0.

Both Naruto and Black Clover are passionate about chasing losers.

Naruto has influenced many subsequent Battle Shonen series indefinitely. With so many traditional shonen tropes and concepts featured in Naruto, it would be hard not to be inspired by Black Clover's extensive strokes. Masashi Kishimoto's famous series focuses on ninja with supernatural powers rather than magic users.

Asta's desire to be the next Wizard King is at odds with Naruto's quest to become Hokage. They are both overlooked, underrated heroes who are ready to change the world. Together with Yuno, asta's abilities inspire each other and allow them to reach laudable milestones, much like naruto and sasuke's entertainments.

While Berserk may have been a more direct inspiration for Black Clover's dark fantasy impulses, it still has much of Naruto's DNA and was incorporated into the anime. Studio Pierrot visuals from Source reveal that Naruto is paired up to do jutsu in Kurama Chakra Mode 2, while Naruto works with Kurama to form Tailed Beast Mode.

As the second season of Black Clover is set to air alongside the final installment of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, viewers of the 392-episode manga and 170 episode anime will be able to reread Tabata's praise for Bleach, Berserk, Yu Yu Hakusho, Dragon Ball Z, and Naruto as Asta continues on with The Wizard King.
