Critics who could rewrite the play.
The game they're playing involves a tragic villain named Lieselotte, who will be eaten by the darkness and eventually killed off as monsters by the main characters. But Kobayashi sees what the game designers intended to conceal: that Lieselote is a tsundere; hiding behind her exterior is a genuinely good nature. The more interesting material emerges when he begins interacting with the game's characters and actively pursues a happy ending in which everyone survives: the impossible. Only in the last two parts of the series does it reveal the hidden drama, highlighting the pace of the game and the important roles played by Endo and Kobayashi in its resolution. Most of this comes as a revelation rather than being revealed gradually, and if these mysteries had been inserted through earlier scenes with relationship antics, the series would have been more compelling. Unfortunately, the texts are pedestrian-y.

What does this mean for viewers?
Endo and Kobayashi live! Latest from Tsundere Villainess Lieselotte The series can entertain for a while without being boring, and in the current state of affairs it's rare to get the entire narrative into one courtroom. But ultimately too safe for a series that is built on the imagination of two critics rewriting a disaster; leaving its most interesting revelations to conclude as quickly as possible, with no major relationship yet developed -- this is the kind of show that a viewer will forget soon after it ends, even though it offers instantly pleasurable, unchallenging warmth.
