In an interview with Crunchyroll, Suzuki described Attack on Titan 3 as a reboot of the entire series rather than simply continuing much of the previous story arc.

The game returns for season 1 to reveal the full story.

The previous two episodes retell the story arcs described in seasons 1-3 of the Attack on Titan anime series.

Suzuki says that he decided to film the story from beginning to end, and adapting an anime from start to finish takes a lot of time. For players, the sequel is not just following new seasons of anime but reconstructing the entire storyline into a playable experience.

The customized character reimagines familiar events.

Unlike the previous two games, Attack on Titan 3 tells the entire series through the eyes of a customizable game-original character. This was not Suzuki's original plan; he said that it had taken some time to put together the game concept and that the team was already thinking about a sequel after the previous game.

Since the anime series was still ongoing at that time, the developers considered only covering its new seasons in their next game. After reviewing the articles, Suzuki and his team decided that 20 to 30 hours would not be enough to cover the entire game.

The development team then went back to the drawing board. The main storyline was slightly modified to rewrite the story through the player's character perspective.

It has iconic scenes, but it changes the way stories are told.

In reconstructing the planned narrative, Suzuki notes that the team was careful to preserve iconic events that had become essential to the work's legacy, such as Eren's tearful conversation with Armin.

From a storytelling perspective, he says the game is slightly different from the anime. Fans will remember them because they include scenes that take place in the final season of the game; however, Attack on Titan 3 has focused on not recreating these scenes in exactly the same way.

The new story was accompanied by a new opening sequence produced by MAPPA, directed by Arifumi Imai. Koei Tecmo also showed the official screenshot of Attack on Titan 3, an upcoming installment in the anime-based hack-and-slash series developed by Dynasty Warriors developer Omega Force.

The difficulty balance is intended to satisfy both veterans and newcomers.

The production team also attempted to address some of the fan complaints associated with difficulty levels. Suzuki had previously tried to make games available to all players, but this approach drove away those who were hoping for a more challenging game.

For Attack on Titan 3, Suzuki's team said they were trying to create a balanced experience that would satisfy both veteran fighters and newcomers who want to experience the story and world.

It has been explained that it may not be suitable for starting players, although the difficulty is slightly elevated. To accommodate this, the team made adjustments to the story format. Players who want to follow the storyline can use a support system which faces easy death or over-demanding button controls.

Release Date and What It Means for Players

Attack on Titan 3 is scheduled to launch on December 10 for the Nintendo Switch 2 , PlayStation 5 , and Xbox Series X /S,PC with a release date of October 1, 2018.

Suzuki acknowledged that development has been a slow process, but said he believes the final product is worth waiting for serious fans. In his opinion, even players who are already familiar with the story can still get a fresh experience as they explore and battle events on their own.
