The Apothecary Diaries the Movie: The Late Lady's Treasure has revealed a new trailer and key visual for the upcoming film, which is set to be released in Japan on December 11, 2017.

It's the first anime film ever made.

The film is the first in The Apothecary Diaries series, an adaptation of a new mystery novel written by Norihiro Naganuma, creator of the original series and directed by TOHO Animation STUDIO.

Crunchyroll recently announced that they have acquired the North American and worldwide distribution rights for the film.

The novel form extends the film's narrative.

Natsu Hyuga will publish a novel version of the film, titled The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady's Treasure. The book is an adaptation of Hyūga's own original screenplay and includes elements that were not included in the movie.

In its first edition, obj will feature extensively using the film's main scene.

Summary of The Late Lady's Treasure

The official short film plot centers on a new mystery surrounding a hidden treasure in an aquatic city.

The emperor gives Jinshi a decree: he must fulfill the last wish of his concubine, who passed away five years ago, by sending her back to her homeland.

Jinshi examined the skeletons to return her to her family and found that she was in pristine condition.

To solve the mystery of the fossils, Jinshi travels with Maomao to the southern province of Binan-shu, ruled by the Bi clan.

Maomao is excited to find herbs and medicines he has never seen before, but tensions are high in the region as pirates desperately try to find their latest leader's hidden treasure.

I hope that's okay.

Jinshi's premonition comes true: on the day of the bride's funeral, a huge event occurs that sets off a cycle of events no one could have anticipated.

Background to the franchise

Natsu Hyuga wrote the light novel The Apothecary Diaries with illustrations by Toko Shino.

There are two manga in the series, one written by Itsuki Nanao and illustrated by Nekokurage.
