Season 1 of The One Piece is based on the manga's opening storyline, East Blue Saga, consisting of 50 episodes in 7 parts for a total runtime of 300 minutes (or approximately 43 minutes per episode). According to an official description from Netflix , East Blue was the initial draft of the manga and where fans first encountered Luffy.
Wada tied the reboot to Oda's request.
George Wada, co-founder and chief executive of WIT Studios, said in March that the reason for the remake was due to concerns expressed by Iihiro Oda himself. Oda noted that One Piece had become long and packed with details. According to Wada, Oda felt that new generations watching a modern production would not be able to feel the same excitement over an old film as it did before, which caused him to know about and follow the story, but he regretted this.၂၀၂၆
It's not a remake of the Toei series, but a complete reboot.
In August, Wada made it clear that WIT Studio views The One Piece as a full reboot of the franchise's anime adaptation rather than a remake of Toei Animation's original series. He stated that while Toei animation has produced an amazing one-piece anime for many years, the rationale for the new version is to serve people around the world who have not experienced it yet.
