The official website for Dragon Ball briefly rebuilt Toriyama's original Buu Saga Goku draft, highlighting his return to light and symbolism with Gohan.

The Dragon Ball website has published Goku's original Buu Saga design for the Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 44.

The archives are open 24 hours a day.

The official Dragon Ball website recently pulled a classic piece from the Toriyama Archives, one of Son Goku's first Buu Saga designs in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 44, which was released on October 5, ၁၉၉၃ in Japan.

This is one of the biggest revelations for any Goku design, as it marks Goku's grand re-entry after leaving the manga following his death in a battle with Cell.

What the Draft Says

Goku's design is not a big departure from his Cell Saga look. He appears in the form of Base and wears an orange Kame school gi on top of blue weighted clothing as well. The new accessory has a halo over its head, which reminds readers that despite being back to Earth for 24 hours, Goku is still dead.

"Goku has run from heaven to join the 25th Tenkaichi Budokai", states a description on the official Dragon Ball website.

Goku and Gohan

The official website also states that Goku was last seen on the cover after Goten and Trunks. He now appears alongside current manga hero Gohan.

The Room Behind the Mask

Dragon Ball Episode 441, "Videl Battered" is the ၁၉၉၃th episode of Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 44, and does not feature the Saiyans on its original cover. As the title suggests, it focuses mainly on Videl and Spopovich and his famous tournament battle.

How important is design?

The archive has had the most impact on modern series such as Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, where many designs from Dragon Ball Z are currently airing.
