Seven Autobots are more powerful than Devastator.
Transformers Autobots defeated the Devastator with speed, design, size, leadership and tactics, proving that fierce collective power is invincible.
In the comics associated with Generation 1, Transformers , seven Autobot characters - Perceptor, Superion, Optimus Prime, Omega Supreme, Metroplex, Fortress Maximus and Rodimus Prime - are shown defeating or overcoming Devastator, a six-constructor Decepticon. The comparison is important because Devaster's threat comes from his combination of size and absolute power, as stories respond to better mobility, stronger leadership, and repeatedly adapted tools that work beyond the largest proportions or partial sizes.
It's a weakness that ends the fight with one shot.
In The Master Builders, Smokescreen tricks the Devastator into shooting down a Decepticon solar tower. This demonstrates how poorly the battle-reading skills of Devastators are. Despite these exploitable weaknesses, there is no trick for Perceptor: her single shot defeats the Devaster and clearing victory makes the Perceptors stronger than the Combiner Autobot strategy.
Superion was built to prepare the blueprint for Devastator.
In Marvel's The Transformers comic, the Autobots invade a Decepticon base in Wyoming to get rid of Devastator and learn about his technology. Aerialbots exist because of Devaster. That origin proves that Superion is better than Devastators' sketchbook, as the AutoBots build their Aerialbot from data collected on them.
Superion is a direct response to Devastator, not an JUST copy. The cartoon proves that this improvement works: after Bruticus easily defeats both Devaster and Menasor, Superion eliminates Brutikus in one shot; the Superions face off against Menasore in their first battle, then defeat him with the help of Omega Supreme. This series of battles makes them superior to Superione.
In contrast, Superion chases Scourge and Cyclonus across the cartoon planet field. This flight allows the Superions to choose their battles and evade Devastator's slow attacks.
Optimus Prime repeatedly transforms defeat into victory.
In City of Steel, Devastator pulls Optimus Prime to the top of the Empire State Building and Prime goes on to win. Prime gains remote control over his fragmented gun arm, which sits atop the roof as its main weapon. Using this tool, Optima removes the Devastators from the building. This counterattack proves that Prime has better weapons and surpasses Devastador's size.
The Transformers : The Movie shows Prime's power level as he battles the Dinobots with Devastator and fights Megatron himself. This choice is considered to be the greatest threat to Megatran, and Prime brings him to his knees.
Prime defeats Devastator for the second time, when Hound's giant hologram misleads his accomplice. Prime dies in the center and forces the Constructicons to split up. This shot shows that Prime is taking advantage of an opening provided by Devastator.
Omega Supreme removes the size advantage.
In The Secret of Omega Supreme, Omega tells how Optimus Prime was targeted so that he could be reprogrammed by Devastator. Omega defeats the Combiner and escapes on his own. This escape proves that Omega's power overcomes Devastators' best handlers.
Omega's wrath ends badly for Devastator as he is buried under Avalanche . Only Optimus Prime's lawsuit can save the Constructicons from destruction. In this series, because Omega triumphs over size and power, Devaster also has a shoulder-high appointment with Omegas. As such, Omegna removes the only advantage of Devasters: Size.
Omega's technical specifications are capable of breaking the crest, lifting ၃၀၀,၀၀၀ tons with his fist and destroying a 12-foot-long steel block with his plasma blaster hand. Devastator's technological specifications were expected to give him a bridge-breaking blow, so that omega's mountaintop ability operates at an even higher level. This description is consistent with omega working as octopus' last line of defense.
Metroplex and Fortress Maximus extended the battle beyond Devastator.
Metroplex proves his prowess over the Constructicons' creations in "Five Faces of Darkness" by defeating Trypticon, a machine much larger than Devastator. Wheelie brings a replacement cog and Metrplex throws Triptychon into the ocean. With this victory, Metroplex demonstrates that he has the power to defeat the great Constructonicons' ultimate creation.
Metroplex defeats Trypticon three times throughout the cartoon, including in a battle after Decepticons exchange their metamorphosis cogs. Despite losing the original cog, Metroplex manages to overcome Tripecan. As his repeated successes have shown, even when trying to weaken him by removing his transformation abilities, Tricone struggles to match its strength.
Marvel's profile describes Devastator as being over 60 feet tall, while the British book puts it at about 100 feet and Metroplex at 698 feet. The cartoon depicts Metrplex as a living city, making him much larger than Devastator. His enormous size and frequent victories help explain why Trypticon always loses battles.
Fortress Maximus debuted in "The Rebirth, Part 3" and defeated Scorponok on Cybertron. In the miniseries, Scopanock is a giant Decepticon. Therefore, Fortress Maxim gains victory over Colossus, who is more powerful than his army of six construction vehicles. This series has proven that Fortress Maksimus operates at a level unreachable by Devastator, which needs six bodies to break through the prison.
The victory also comes when the Autobots nearly lose due to their closeness with the Decepticons in Cybertron. Fortress Maximus arrives from Nebulos and becomes an Autobot who reverses the entire battle. Devastator's cartoon battles typically end by teaming up with Autobott tricks, which Fortress Maxim wins through size and strength.
Scorponok is a stronger pacifist in his one-on-one battles than the Devastator.
Rodimus Prime shifts the scale of power.
Rodimus Prime defeats Devastator; the Matrix of Leadership destroys Unicron in The Transformers : The Movie. As a planet-eater, Unicron is larger than any synthesizer. This success demonstrates that Rodimus prime's matrix power overcomes threats unable to be attacked by Devastators because Devastator's height means nothing for a creature that eats planets.
Rodimus Prime also defeats Galvatron, who commands him to fight Devastator, Menasor and Bruticus. After Hot Rod becomes Rodmus Prime, he launches Galvatton into space. Galvatrón performs the upgrade given to him by Unicron but still fails. This means that Rodimus Prim's power comes from Matrix's own decision.
This choice shows that the Matrix trusts Rodimus Prime to guide its light. That light ends up being a planet-eater, which means Rodimus prime's power and attributes are far superior to anything Devastator brings into battle.
What does comparison mean for franchising?
Transformers is a media franchise created by American toy company Hasbro and Japanese game company Takara Tomy. It primarily follows the heroic Autobots and villainous Decepticons, two alien robot factions at war who are able to transform into other forms, vehicles, and creatures. During this build-up, Devastator acts as an archetype of brute force.
