As the second son of Goku and Chichi, Gojin began performing upon his return from a seven-year time lapse in Dragon Ball Z. His incredible powers immediately enlisted him into the next generation of heroes tasked with protecting Earth after Goku's disappearance.

The 25th World Martial Arts Tournament of Dragon Ball Z redefined the status quo for Buu Saga, with Goten and Trunks featuring prominently during the process. Goten lost to Tran in the tournament's Junior Division, as both were underage for the correct competition level, stealing another fighter's costume and posing as Mighty Mask.

Goten and Trunk's joint attack was supposed to overcome only Goten, but their abilities were hindered by the complex deception both of them employed in harnessing supernatural powers. While fighting 8900000, her Destructo Disc ended without ceremony as she split the suit in half and discarded them. The form is extreme and clearly comic relief, however it still appears as a playable character in several Dragon Ball video games, including most recently included in Sparking! ZERO's Super Limit Breaking NEO DLC .

In Dragon Ball GT, a child infection poses a threat to Goten.

Dragon Ball GT remains the franchise's most polarizing entry. While its initial Black Star Dragon Ball Saga was largely viewed as a phonetic error, later Baby Saga has finally found its footing: NEO Machine Mutant Tuffle named Baby infects the world's population with germs and transfers Vegeta to his prize ship.

Although Goten doesn't get much work in GT, some of his greatest moments occur in this series. He is the first of the World Heroes to be infected by Baby and initiates a domino effect that lasts until Gohan becomes infected. After fighting with Baby Goten, the possessed Saiyan brothers turn their attention to Vegeta.

Goku's first super Saiyan transformation remains one of the greatest moments in Dragon Ball. Gohan and Trunks became Super Saiyans when they were 1 and 8 years old, respectively, although Goten was only 7 at the time.

Goten's Super Saiyan advancements are disappointing, as they have not yet been continued, but this does mean that the super-Saiyan Goten has participated in big battles. His performance against seven mad Cell Juniors with Trunks is one of its best and most recent examples.

Saiyaman X-2: Street-level Heroics with the Holy God Twist

Both Goten and Trunks have been largely overlooked in Dragon Ball Super, not even featuring in Tournament of Power. The High School Saga mini-arc gives at least two characters as forerunners to the superhero saga. Inspired by the fictional in-universe superhero Clean God, Gohan's own Great Saiyaman costume also serves as a street-level crime-fighting alter egos for both Goden and Trunk.

As Sign X-2, Goten performs flashy maneuvers such as the Up-Cycle Punch and tandem Cyclone Style! Tornado Double Hurricane attacks, and uses his powers including Super Saiyan power upgrades to defeat Dr. Hedo's Alpha and Beta Android Series. This modification is better than earlier versions because it builds on Dragon Ball Super's solid foundation for its character.

Gotenks: In short, the combination that made him one of the most powerful.

Fusion is a controversial concept, but it doesn't go anywhere in Dragon Ball. The Metamoran fusion dance allows two characters to combine their powers and qualities into one vicious fighter, with Goten and Trunks becoming its poster children.

When Super Saiyan 3 is unlocked, his value soars and matches Goku's milestone. Immediately making him one of the strongest characters in Dragon Ball and hinting at one of Goten's highest powers. It was somewhat disappointing that Goten and Trunks' abilities failed when they were all involved in the merger: Fusion is only powerful if its participants can successfully perform the exact moves needed - combinations which all previous releases have failed to do.

Xeno Goten: The open prospect of police discipline and punctuality.

The Dragon Ball universe expanded through extensive non-canon timelines introduced in games such as Dragon Ball Xenoverse and Dragon Ball Heroes, which featured established characters drawn from different time periods with Xeno versions.

After Xeno Goten rises to the rank of Super Saiyan in a battle with Shroom, Ultimate XenoGoten is able to defeat Demigra by unlocking his Master's power. He uses this power to eliminate super enemies such as Demon God Dabura, Super Android 13, Lord Slug and Bojack, while also playing an important role against Towa and Mira.

What this means for the future of Gothenburg

Throughout these forms, Goten's ladder traces a familiar pattern: big early hopes, few high-water markers and longing for oblivion. His seven-year Super Saiyan transformation and the success of the Gotenks' Super Saiya 3 remains his ceiling, while GT's setback, the limited time frame of the Super Creature, has prevented him from building on those Milestones. The Xeno timeline shows that an ethical and possibly unlocked Goten can be seen as this - one in which major continuity is yet to come.
