Naruto's three great battles of Jiraya

This stage is notable for Jiraiya's major Naruto battles, especially Pain and his Toad Mouth Trap against Itachi and Kisame.

In Studio Pierrot's Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden, Jiraiya is at the height of his powers with only a few lengthy battles in both annual series. Toad Sage from The Hidden Leaf Village has been teaching Naru much over the years but fans have never seen him in full action.

The final show of Jirayya vs Pain was the most amazing.

"The Tale of Jiraiya the Gallant" is an exciting story from Naruto: Shippuden. Fans witness a tearful farewell between Tsunade and Jiraya before he leaves on his life's most dangerous mission. Entering Rain Hidden Village by Legendary Sannin leads to a direct confrontation with Six Paths of Pain.

For the first time since his introduction, viewers have seen the power of Toad Sage. Despite not completely mastering Sage Mode, Jiraiya is no dummy on the battlefield. He's tactical, calculating and resilient in a way that most fans haven't seen before.

Unable to balance Naruto's physical, natural and spiritual energies, Jirayaya is heavily dependent on Fukasaku and Shima, constantly recruiting chakras to keep him strong during the battle. Despite these shortcomings, he is skilled enough to take out three of six lanes in Shippuden, one of the greatest arkazuki battles in Naruto. After discovering Pain's secret, this means that Jirayya will never be able to speak his oath aloud, because Paths had cut his throat before descending upon him with a knife, so he was left bleeding while being stabbed in the sidewalk, but died at the last moment when news emerged of Fukusaku's death.

The Toad Mouth Trap, which catches Itachi and Kisame, is Jiraiya's first real experiment.

When Jiraiya and Naruto encounter Itachi and Kisame at the hotel while members of Akatsuki attempt to kidnap Jinchuriki, Toad Sage steps in to protect his mission. This brief battle gives us a first glimpse into Jirayia's capabilities if it can truly be called a fight. He uses the Toad Mouth Trap to capture two Akatsukie inside the throat of the Great Mountain frog.

Although the interaction was brief, for years fans debated whether Jiraiya would actually be able to kill off the S-rank Akatsuki duo. Itachi told Kisame at one point that Jiraiya was too strong to face them. Later on in Shippuden it was revealed that Itachi had been acting as a double-agent and discussion ensued.

The Sannin Showdown reduced Jiraiya's power but saved Tsunade and Naruto.

During the Search for Tsunade series, Jiraiya attempts to help Naruto gain control of his chakra, but until then fans can only guess how powerful Toad Sage is. He spends the journey trying to teach Rasengan what would become Naruto's first A-rank jutsu, though there isn't much action beyond those lessons until he finally discovers his former teammate and the woman who will become Hokage.

After the Third Ninja World War, Tsunade loses both her brother Nawaki and her lover Don Kato. Orochimaru seeks her out for his medical ninjustu, and the Third Hokage offers to resurrect loved ones for her if she agrees to treat her hands that were rendered useless during the Konoha Crush arc.

Jiraiya's first attempt to summon Gamma Buntha was unsuccessful. Eventually, a small oyster appeared in his place. He finally succeeded in summoning Gamebuntha and gave Zunade away to Orochimaru's guardian Manda during the Sanen tournament where fans saw him use Fire Release for the first time with Toad Flame Oil Bullet.

Jiraiya may not be the star of Sannin's showdown, but without him, Tsunade and Naruto would have no way to survive their confrontation with Kabuto and Orochimaru.

The significance of the three battles for Jeremiah's heritage

It gives the audience a clearer way to understand Jiraiya's place in the story. Toad Mouth Trap shows her ability to protect Itachi and Kisame; Sannin Shooting reveals that she can defend Naruto even when his curse is suppressed; Tsunade demonstrates how she defeats Manda and survives the battle against Kabuto and Orochimaru; and Battle with Pain showcases her strategic depth, Fukasaku's trust in Shima, and the coded messages that carried Pain's secret to Hidden Leaf Village.
